a sham you say?

June 28th, 2003 by T-Fresh

alright, one of the 4 people who read this site got a little miffed that i didn’t post today like i said i would… well, here you go :P

well, i’m a little disappointed today because it’s mine and my boyfriend’s monthly anniversary (yes, we celebrate monthly, we’re sickly sweet like that) and i haven’t heard from him all day. i was hoping to be able to see him today, or at least talk to him on the phone, but that hasn’t happened as of yet… *sigh*

melting

June 25th, 2003 by T-Fresh

it’s earlier than yesterday when i posted, but it’s already hotter; 84 degrees and rising. i just feel yucky today. i’m not sure if i should take a shower, or wait till it cools down. though a cool water shower would be nice… it’s an option..

rising mercury

June 24th, 2003 by T-Fresh

the temperature here is 82 degrees currently… it’s friggin’ hot. while you’d think i’d be used to this living in florida for 4 years, we had air conditioning down there. i’m too poor right now to get an A/C. i’m melting.

it’s always been my personal view that i like the cold weather better than the heat. when you’re cold, you can always put on more layers of clothing to warm up, eat hot foods and the like. when you’re hot, you can take off layers to cool off, but once you’re nude, and still hot, there’s not much else to do. you get all sweaty, sticky and disgusting. there’s just nothing to do about it.

yuck.

false hopes

June 21st, 2003 by T-Fresh

does it bother anyone else how the television shopping networks always give misinformation about the products they’re trying to sell?

i’m watching the Shop At Home Network and they’re selling an intel centrino laptop. if you don’t know, centrino is the new mobile chip/solution from intel that has built in wireless connectivity. as most people know, even with Wi-Fi, you need a wireless access point, a lot of people are getting these in their homes and local Starbucks are getting connected as well as some college campuses.

the fool selling this laptop is running through all the things you can do with wireless internet.
1) surf the web in the back yard: true, if you have a WAP in your home.
2) make dinner reservations in the car to the restaurant: false, unless you’re extremely lucky to pass by a WAP long enough to make the reservations online (and then only if you can crack the security on that WAP).
3) check MapQuest for directions if you’re lost somewhere out on the road while your kids watch a DVD on the laptop in the back seat: again, false, unless you happen to be somewhere in the western states of california or washington where some people are starting to set up access points the whole town can connect to (Seattle Wireless in Seattle Washington and No Cat Net in Sonoma County, California).

temping

June 18th, 2003 by T-Fresh

i went and signed up with Manpower today. fortunately and unfortunatly they didn’t have me go through the 2 hour registration/orientation process. mainly because they didn’t have any positions they felt i was suited to. i hope they have something soon, i really need to start earning some money.

they did say there was an insurance company (UnumProvident perhaps?) that had openings, but they were looking for people who want to make insurance their career choice and be ‘temp-to-hire.’

i’m not sure what to do next, but i think i’ll try signing up at other temp agencies.

this is getting discouraging. the first place i applied to, the ISP, did not select me for an interview even though the work i would have done there is the same stuff i’ve been doing for the past 2.5 years. oh well, their loss.

redesign

June 16th, 2003 by T-Fresh

incase you can’t tell, i redesigned my site today. it still needs some tweaking, it’s a bit simplistic, and was kind of taken from the idea of a friend’s site. otherwise, most things should work, it’s kind of sparse though.
