fixed

July 30th, 2003 by T-Fresh

well, our water is fixed. for now.

seems the well was cracked and all our water was leaking back into the ground. the landlord fixed it, but the water is real low, so we need to wait til tomorrow morning at least before we take any showers or do dishes or anything that uses a lot of water.

on top of that, our hot water heater may have a crack in it, so he might have to come replace that a little later.

i can’t wait to take a shower. you never know how good they are til you can’t take one. thank goodness for cologne.

modern day pleasures

July 30th, 2003 by T-Fresh

okay, so you know what sucks? i have no running water today… and it started last night.

i don’t know why, but i was taking a quick shower last night, and all of a sudden the stream started sputtering, like there was air in the pipes. it got so bad i jumped out of the shower before some of the pressure of the water coming through popped the shower head off and it knocked me out.

today there’s nothing, more air than water, and also some of the water is a brownish color. the landlord has had a voicemail left for him, but he’s out working today, so it’s up to chance when he’ll get the message and respond. top that with him not getting the full amount for rent last month, and us not having any money for rent this month, and we might not have any running water.

this sucks. no showers, not even being able to use the bathroom… *ugh*

life’s little pleasures

July 28th, 2003 by T-Fresh

okay, so it’s been a week since my last post. nothing has really been happening… i keep applying for jobs, but nothing seems to come through.

anyways, getting to the title of this post, i found some nifty icons on my computer that i really like, and decided to make a desktop picture out of them. i know it’s a little cheesy, but i like it. the icons are just so cute! (look for the consumer way, and eggs sets)

and on another note, today’s yet another anniversary that my BF hasn’t contacted me… today it’s two years, five months together… *sigh*

again

July 17th, 2003 by T-Fresh

finally, i again got to see my boyfriend last night…

we agreed to meet, and i really wanted to so we could talk about stuff. things seem to have been worked out, and all is well. hopefully i’ll get to see him more often now. *crosses fingers*

not much else to report here. still working on my portfolio redesign… seems the consensus right now is for the orange design (though not necessarily orange) if you have any comments or suggestions, let me know. and let me know why you chose the one you chose :)

experiments

July 14th, 2003 by T-Fresh

okay, so my weekend was kinda extremely sucky… nothing i’d like to talk about here though.

on another note, i’ve decided to attempt to redesign my online portfolio. take a look here and here and let me know what you think.

trying

July 9th, 2003 by T-Fresh

so, i’m trying to make things better for myself. i’m not sure if it’s working though.

i got my car fixed today. my father decided that since most of what was wrong with the car should have been fixed before i got it, and the tire was a factory defect, he would pay for it to get fixed. which is good because i need a car if i happen to get any interview calls.

and on the job front, i posted my resume on monster.com and i also sent a pdf version of my resume to Sir Speedy. hopefully i’ll get a call sometime.

bad things happen to good people?

July 8th, 2003 by T-Fresh

today has been a day from hell.

first of all, yesterday we received an eviction notice because we don’t have money to pay rent. this was fine, because we were going to go to the town office and apply for their aid that pays your rent and electric bill. well. they have a limit on the amount of money they’ll help you with. it’s something like $637… our rent is $800/mo., and you gotta include the late fee. so that was a little slap to the face. but it also means they won’t help with our electric bill. had to go crawling to my father to borrow the money.

we also got our bill for cable which includes our internet (our number one resource for looking for jobs at the moment). they want $167 or they’ll disconnect. i figured i had that much left on my credit card so we went to pay that. declined… three times. seems i forgot to pay my last 2 bills for my credit card. so i owe them $76 so i can use my card again. i have that much in the bank and can pay that. but then i won’t have the money to pay my cell phone bill or $72 (it’s the number i’ve given all the places i’ve applied for jobs at, so i can’t get rid of that… that and the early termination fee…)

on the way home from trying to pay the cable a tire on my car decides to give out. it’s not flat, but one of the straps inside gave loose, so i have this bubble on the side that could burst at any time, sending my car into a death spin. needless to say i don’t have the money to get that fixed.

that’s about it for today… to quote a friend of mine, ‘if bad things happen to good people, then i must be a really good person’

noopan

July 7th, 2003 by T-Fresh

yesterday a language geek friend of mine taught me a new japanese word; noopan ( のおぱん ). it means something like ‘wearing no underwear’ or in other words, freeballing.

related to this, today while i was walking through wal*mart, i passed by the young men’s t-shirts, and saw one on the end of the aisle that was bright red with a list and check boxes written in a degraded stencil font reminiscent of military style. the three items in the list were “boxers, briefs, commando” with the box for ‘commando’ checked in a bright yellow. does this mean that more youth are discarding their underwear? you see a lot of stars in movies not showing the underwear waistband that was fashionable in the late ’90’s.

independence weekend

July 6th, 2003 by T-Fresh

well, the weekend’s just about over and not much happened.

my mom and i went to watch the fireworks in auburn for the first time in 4 years. it was better than i had expected, but still wasn’t all that spectacular. we parked in the hannaford parkinglot and walked 2 blocks to a small hill that was almost directly across from place they had set up all the fireworks to be set off from. that’s what i like about hilly areas as opposed to the flatness of florida; you have better views.

we tried to video tape the fireworks, but the ‘magic pix’ mode of the camera for taking video in low light situations seems to almost strobe everything. it was not smooth video. maybe next year we’ll figure out how to tape it.

the rest of the weekend has been extremely hot and boring. nothing really happened. my mom and i attempted to go to new hampshire for some powerball tickets, but by the time we headed out, it started to pour out. harder than we’ve seen it rain since we got back to maine. we decided not to go.

some holiday weekend. one of the most boring weekends i’ve had. *sigh*
