so i finally got 2 new tires for the front of my car. my father was nice enough to buy them for me, but we got them at walmart. *ugh*
i take my other tire off the front of the car, and put both tires in the back of my father’s truck and we head off to walmart.
we get there and the girl outside asked us if we were there for an oil change. we said no, we wanted tires. she started to look at my father’s truck to see what kind of tires it took. we tell her it’s not for that vehicle and we say we want tires to be put on the rims we had. she didn’t quite understand that, and she still thought they were going to be put on the truck. we showed her the tires in the back, and she started asking what happened and all, and she thought we bought the tires there. no. we said we wanted to buy tires there. that she understood, and started asking us about what we wanted, and customer info (phone number, name, etc…), she asks what year the car is, and i say it’s a 1994 and my father says it’s a Ford Taurus. finally, she says “let me just get the milage off your car.” and she heads over to my father’s truck yet again, even though it’s not a Taurus… it’s not even a Ford for christ sakes! my father yells over to her that she can’t get the milage, cause they’re not going on that car. fucking idiot!
so finally she understands that we just want new tires put on the rims, and they’re not going on the truck. she doesn’t know how to do that so she goes and asks someone. she comes back and tells us she can’t do that for us outside, we have to bring the tires inside and have someone in there ring us up.
then we walk around the store for about an hour, and check on the tires. there are 2 jobs before us still. walk around the store for another hour and a half and go back to see if the tires had been taken yet. they have, and we watch the guy work on them. as he’s working on them, he’s fumbling with the touch-screen computer he has to enter everything on as if he doesn’t know how to use it. then he takes his sweet time taking the tire off the rim. walks back to the store, and back to the rim, and puts the new tire on. talks to the person working next to him. works on the other tire. cashier goes out and chats with him while he works. the original woman who tried to help us goes out there after her break and joins the conversation. the guy finally gets the tires done, and goes to balance them. that takes no time at all cause he’s not distracted. all in all, we were in walmart for about 3 hours or more…
all i have to say is i’m starting to see why my friends David and Rolla hate walmart with a passion. so much so that David has entered the word “fuck” in his cell phone’s dictionary.
FUCK! ARGH!

so, last night i was stopped again. the first time was for speeding (55 in a 35 and school zone even though it was 1 am).
last night i was driving my mom’s car cause i didn’t trust my donut on my car. now, her car isn’t the best thing in the world, it could fall apart at any moment, but it gets her around.
- the speedometer doesn’t work most of the time
- the muffler’s got a hole in it, so it sounds like those souped up cars all the kiddies have these days
- the odometer doesn’t work (well, it only works when the speedometer works
- the engine light comes on for no apparent reason
- the sports mode/overdrive light blinks (if you have it in sports mode it’s supposed to stay lit)
last night it was because the muffler sounded too loud to the officer.
at least it wasn’t for speeding since i don’t have a speedometer! i probably stayed well under the speed limit the whole way home cause i was paranoid.

so. last night i was out riding, and all of a sudden, the tire that had the bulge in it decided it didn’t want to go any further.
there was a really loud sound, and i almost lost control of the car and the piece between the front bumper and hood sprang up and was waving all around scratching up my car.
i pulled over to the side of the road as quickly as i could (never thought that 40MPH quick stop i had to do for my driver’s test would ever be used) i got out and looked at my tire, it hadn’t popped, but the treads on it peeled off like an orange peel. is it a retread?
anyways, i walked back and picked up the tread in the middle of the road and threw it in my trunk. then i called my mom. i had to wait til she got gas in her car, and came to get me. that was the longest wait ever. while i was waiting, the nice inhabitant of the house i was stopped across from came over to see if i was okay and all. made small talk about the tire not blowing out, and how loud it was and all that and then he went away.
when my mom got there, we moved my car to a more level spot so we could try to change the tire (i have a “donut” in the trunk for a spare).
i got everything out of the trunk and tried to pry off the nuts holding the tire on. they were put on with an air gun, so it was almost impossible to do; i had to stand on the wrench to get them loose, and then one was rusted and rounded over and it wouldn’t budge. i finally got the damn small hubcap off and it gave me a better grip on that nut.
changed my tire and drove the car home.
*whew!*

i love finding funny little 404 not found messages on the internet. you know, the pages that are displayed when the page you’re looking for can’t be found. i love the fact that you can actually customize that page as you desire.
here’s one of my favorites. and if you wish to view more, check out the 404 Reserach Lab.
ps. this is my 50th post… i really should post more often, i wanna reach 100.

well, i decided it was time to categorize my entries. why? i have no clue, i’m just that bored.
while doing so, i got the listing of categories on the side of my page fine, but couldn’t for the life of me figure out how to get the category to be listed in the entry itself. a big thank you to David for giving me the code that would do it.

okay, well, this wasn’t really a telemarketer in the usual sense. this company called me to follow up with what i was looking at on their site. the company is Smart Certify Direct, and they offer IT training that’s guaranteed, or your money back if you don’t get certified.
the guy asked me about what i was looking for, and what was keeping me from taking the training, and all the usual stuff. when i told him that i didn’t have the money, he started asking me if i had anyone who could help me out- friends or parents. it seemed a little odd to me, it’s like an infomercial for toys telling the kids how to get the credit card out of mommy’s purse. just didn’t seem right.
he was telling me about a deal they have going on just for this week for the webmaster’s course. the CIW (certified internet webmaster) course is usually $600, but if i took the master’s training (still not sure what that is, but it’s for web stuff) i’d get the CIW free since it’s a prerequisite for the master’s course. the thing is, the master’s course is usually around $1200 he said, but for this deal, i’d get both training’s for the low low price of only $999. O.o that’s not really bringing it into my range of what i can spend. i don’t think they understand that not everyone’s rich.
finally i told him i’d talk it over with my parents and call him back.
that’ll never happen.

so, i took a trip to New Hampshire today with my parents to get some power ball tickets. and on the way back i noticed a small thumping coming from my tires. i stopped at a small grocery store to check it out and noticed that, yet again, my front driver’s side tire has a bulge in it. it wasn’t too too bad so i drove the rest of the way home from Bridgeton on it, but i kept the speed down.
now i have to wait til friday-ish to get 2 new tires. my father has offered to pay for them. i just want to know why this happened again. it was a different tire, but same location.
very frustrating.

this was just flying around my room tonight… it’s nasty, and i killed it with some toxic cleaner combination of orange clean and i think lysol.
the bug is a little under 2 inches long, and the legs are a good 2 inches long. it’s so nasty that i couldn’t sleep tonight unless i knew it was dead… i just hope this is the one that i saw go under my bed earlier, and not a second one. *shudder*
does anyone know what this is? please let me know.

i just got done watching the Discovery channel’s special Nefertiti Resurrected.
quite the story told. nefertiti was quite a woman, growing to be the most powerful woman on earth at one point. unparalleled beauty. and the only female pharaoh.
her enemies tried to erase her form history by smashing her face, tearing off her arms (the right one which was in the position that only pharaohs were buried in), and her jewelry looted.
one of my favorite parts was when they x-rayed the skull, and used computer graphics to reconstruct the mummy’s face. another favorite part was how the egyptologist was so giddy and excited every time they opened the tomb where the mummy was. and when she found the right arm that had been lost for 100 years, he almost jumped up and down she was so excited.
my all time favorite part was the end. when they made a little cinematographic tribute to nefertiti. giving her back her name, and letting her enter the afterlife after all this time. so beautiful how they did it. you gotta watch it!
all in all, i give it an a+

okay, this always happens when i start a blog. i start out strong, making entries every day… and then it just dwindles…
so, updates:
i went to portland monday to attempt to apply for a job at Artists & Craftsman Supply store, but when i got there, i went into the store and promptly started sweating. they didn’t have any A/C in there. i didn’t apply for the job ’cause i’d pass out if i had to be in that heat for 8 hours a day.
my mom finally got a job though, so things should be picking up. it’s only part time to start, and before that, until both supervisors are back from holiday (okay, vacation, but holiday sounds so… british ;) ) it’s only per-diem. the job does have the opportunity to become full time, and it’s almost guaranteed, but they’re just not sure when it will.
that’s pretty much all to tell right now. i’ll try to keep this site updated a little more often.
