Serif

August 29th, 2004 by T-Fresh

Serif was a foster kitten who was found behind a washing machine and brought home on Memorial day by “Lauren”:http://www.livejournal.com/users/greentreepython to take care of with his two sisters. When they arrived at my friend’s apartment, they didn’t even have their eyes open yet, and they had to be bottle fed. But they were definitely cute.

As they grew, Serif, being the only boy, started to snuggle with me more than the two girls, and I fell in love with him and knew I would have to adopt him if he didn’t stay with “David”:http://www.davethebad.com and Lauren.

After 3 months of visiting Serif and not being able to bring him home with me, I finally got to on a Monday night (august 16^th^). It was 3 days after going to the vet to be neutered.

Serif loves to cuddle and snuggle, and his specialty is bulldozing your hand or chin with his face and sticking his nose in your ear and purring deafeningly loud. He also seems to really love to knead me, but he doesn’t knead anyone else.

Tuesday Twosome

August 24th, 2004 by T-Fresh

Brought to you by “Dave the Bad”:http://www.davethebad.com and “The Tuesday Twosome”:http://tuesdaytwosome.captive-heart.com/

*What’s in a name…*

*1. What is your middle name and what does it mean?*
Alfred. It’s Ancient Germanic meaning “Elf Counsel”.

*2. What are your favorite boy and girl names?*
Sean for a boy, and Alexia for a girl.

*3. What are your least favorite boy and girl names?*
Raymond for a boy, and Margaret for a girl.

*4. If you could change your name, what would it be and why did you choose that name?*
I’ve gone through phases when I was younger when I really wanted to change my name bad. But I never really settled on one. Names I’ve thought about before have been Xander, Bryce, Inzer, and Gray. I’ve always been fascinated with uncommon names. I think they lend a sense of mystery to the person.

*5. What two nicknames are you most often called?*
The number one most used nickname for me is simply Ted. The second most used one is Teddy, which I don’t really mind. When I was younger I hated when people called me that. It was always seen as a baby’s name to me. And it also lead to a lot of teasing; i.e. Teddybear, Teddy Ruxpin, Teddy Roosevelt.

_And I just want to make it clear that I dispise my full name of Theodore. And I also hate it when people shorten it to Theo as a nickname. You will be severely punished._

Olympic Hotties

August 23rd, 2004 by T-Fresh

Catching the Olympic coverage every once in a while, there are chances to see some very hot guys in skin-tight outfits competing and getting all sweaty. Sadly, there havn’t been too many I would want to bed, but I did see one American today that I wouldn’t kick out of bed if he wanted to talk philosophy (though when they interviewed him, he seemed like the typical highschool jock — brainless). His name is Paul Terek and he’s a decathlete.

Friday Forum (8/20/04)

August 20th, 2004 by T-Fresh

This Meme is brought to you by “Dave the bad”:http://www.davethebad.com, “Friday Forum”:http://groups.yahoo.com/group/FridayForum/ Yahoo! group, and the letter “F.”

*1] Do you remember the very first time that you used the Internet and/or e-mail? What was that experience like?*
I don’t specifically remember the very first time I used the internet, sadly. But I do remember my first impressions. The first times I used the internet (back when I was in 9^th^ grade) was with AOL, and I thought that AOL _was_ the internet. Everytime I would use an external browser, I got creeped out — thinking that it was too difficult to navigate, I dind’t know how anyone could find anything without using AOL. And it also seemed kind of like looking at the source code for a program. It was all very cryptic to me at the time.

*2] How many messages are in your inbox right now? Are you usually pretty good at keeping up with e-mail correspondence? Do you have multiple e-mail addresses?*
Right now there are 13 messages. But that’s just because I haven’t organized/deleted them yet. They’re all from today though, so they’re not all stale. I’m usually pretty good at keeping up with emails, I try to reply to them the moment I get notified I have new mail — if they’re worth and require action. I do have multiple email addresses, I would say I have about 9 email addresses, but I only use about 3 on a regular basis.

*3] What kind of computer[s] do you have?*
I have a Toshiba Satellite laptop as my primary computer at the moment, with a dual-processor 450MHz G4 Macintosh sitting in the other room for serious graphic design work. I also maintain an iMac DV 400MHz G3 computer for my mom. I also have an old PowerMax Mac clone that doesn’t have all the parts to run, and an old Gateway tower and monitor that I got from working at the IT department at my college. It works, but it’s kind of slow. I also have a non-working Compaq Armada laptop that’s quite old.

*4] Do you shop online? Why/why not? What are some of your favorite online stores?*
I do like to shop online, just for the convenience, and the fact that I have anxiety attacks if I have to go to a “brick and mortar” store on my own. Some favorite shops of mine are “TigerDirect”:http://www.tigerdirect.com, “ThinkGeek”:http://www.thinkgeek.com (though I have never ordered anything from them), and “Comp-U-Plus”:http://www.compuplus.com.

*5] Tell us about a cool/fun/interesting/unique Web site that you’ve discovered lately. Or, if you don’t have one in mind, tell us what your browser’s home page is set to.*
Well, first of all, my browser’s home page is set to “Google”:http://www.google.com. As for the cool site, I can’t say for sure that there’s just one. I’ve been checking out a lot of gadget blogs lately, just to keep up my tech fix — “Gizmodo”:http://www.gizmodo.com, “Engadget”:http://www.engadget.com, “Textually”:http://www.textually.org, “Phone Scoop”:http://www.phonescoop.com, and “Mobile Burn”:http://www.mobileburn.com.

Tiny Kittens

August 16th, 2004 by T-Fresh

So, tonight’s the night that I brought my “kitten”:http://www.davethebad.com/images/playing-fosters-gallery/photos/photo_4.html home. I’m wicked happy to finally have a kitten, and one that I’ve grown to love over a while, but I’m also a bit sad that I’ve teken him away from the only place he’s known since he was born, and took him away from his sisters and the other cats that he’s been playing with his whole life.

Someone told me that he’s had his time, now he can relish in the fact tha the’s the alpha cat in the house now, and he’ll just be extra snuggly when he wants to be.

Right now he’s exploring his new home, and he’s found some of the toys that I bought for him. He’s been dragging the “tail chaser”:http://store.yahoo.com/fatcatinc/tacattoyse.html around with him in my room, and he loves the laser pointer (as all cats do).

My main worry right now is that he’ll find his food and water, and his litter box okay. I hope he does..

Oh, and because I don’t think I’ve mentioned it yet, his name is Serif.

Laptop, How Do I Love Thee? Let Me Count The Ways

August 13th, 2004 by T-Fresh

After spending pretty close to two weeks without my trusty laptop while it was in the shop having it’s CD-RW/DVD-ROM drive replaced under warranty I had pretty much given up and resigned to the fact that I would never see my beloved again. But, today at 3:10pm I received a call from CBE telling me that the part for my laptop had come in, and it was ready to be picked up at my convenience.

I bet you know what I did. I high-taled it down to CBE in 3:00 traffic in downtown and south Portland to be reunited with my baby. And I am happy to say that I have burnt two CDs since getting it back and all is well.

This is after yesterday calling CBE to get a status on my laptop and being told that the part still hadn’t come in. They were “at the mercy of [their] vendors.”

I guess what they say is true, “good things come to those who wait.”

laptop update

August 5th, 2004 by T-Fresh

“CBE ValCom”:http://cbetech.com/ finally got around to taking a look at my laptop that I dropped on Monday morning. Turns out that there aren’t enough pixels dead on the screen to warrant replacing. First I was told 15 pixels. This time I was told 12 to 18 pixels, and then 25% of the screen (which seems excessively high). The only way to override that is to call Toshiba customer service and make a big fuss.

The CD-RW/DVD drive will be replaced under warranty though. Parts from Toshiba usually take a day to get in, if the tech put in a purchase order today, he’d most likely receive the part tomorrow. But, he said that with CD drives, he’s seen that it takes about 4-5 days. Probably because of the high-demand, or something. So, while it might be there tomorrow, he said he wouldn’t be surprised if he didn’t see it until the middle of next week. So it’ll still be a while before i get my laptop back.

I’m really starting to miss it. This old Mac of mine is really being slow. And I miss the mobility of the laptop, taking it with me when I visit friends. Sigh.
