New Photo Gallery

April 30th, 2005 by T-Fresh

I installed a new “gallery suite”:http://gallery.menalto.com/ on my server. The only thing I’ve uploaded so far is an album of Serif. “Check it out if you’d like”:http://blog.tduguay.com/gallery/serif. But be warned, the photos contained within may cause tooth aches and sugar headaches!

After about 5 minutes, I would have put the camcorder down and got a sniper riffle. (8 minute WMV)

Keys

April 29th, 2005 by T-Fresh

_Pretty fitting in my opinion. I just wish I was the key to unlock someone’s heart.._

clock key
You actually don’t unlock anything; you’re the winding key for an old grandfather clock. Few people know how important you are unless you aren’t there, but there are a few who treasure you all the time. You help people keep moving forward, but you also help them through the present by reminding them of the past.

What sort of key are you and what do you unlock?

Non linkblog links

April 28th, 2005 by T-Fresh

These links I’ve come across that I feel warrant a full entry, and not just a small mention in my link blog.

The first is “Why geeks are worth dating”:http://sfbayarea.craigslist.org/about/best/sfo/66795671.html (via “Dave the Bad”:http://www.davethebad.com and “Kottke”:http://www.kottke.org). All I have to say is that while we’re often over looked, we have redeeming qualities that far surpass any that a pretty boy might have. Give it a read, your next partner might be a geek.

The second is “the 25th anniversary of the Post-It Note”:http://rakemag.com/features/detail.asp?catID=61&itemID=20620 (via “Kottke”:http://www.kottke.org and “Noah’s Lark”:http://www.noahslark.com). For being so low-tech, these things have a prominent place in my life. They’re handy for places like bookbag, glove compartment, pocket, night table, bathroom, or anywhere!

Stupid Pen Tricks

If my fingers were still as nimble as they were when I was doing slight of hand tricks with cards and other objects, I might just give these a try.

How geeky

_The following will not validate as XHTML transitional. fuck it_

Si… Silicon
You scored 37 Mass, 33 Electronegativity, 51 Metal, and 0 Radioactivity!
Interesting. Take a bunch of really common person-elements and throw them together to get something truely exceptional… that’s you. You are probably someone that gave up on trying to understand society at large a long time ago. You don’t fear it, but you don’t try to be one with it either. You are more or less unperturbed by things… if a problem comes up you might deal with it, or you might avoid it… whatever. You don’t take kindly to people pushing you around, and you don’t really push anyone else around. You’re probably the only one that can tame oxygen simply because you don’t understand it’s raging neediness, but that doesn’t mean that you’ll really enjoy having a tame oxygen hanging around all that much either. You can probably get along with people like yourself really well, but you aren’t your own soulmate… if only they could make entire colonies of people like you you’d be stoked. Just like you don’t understand society, society doesn’t understand you… and yes that is my excuse for not knowing how to describe you better.

Friday Forum 4-22-05

April 21st, 2005 by T-Fresh

Because I’m bored.

The color purple.

1) Do you have any purple clothes in your closet? If so, what items are they? Do you enjoy wearing the color purple (or shades of it)?

bq. I have one t-shirt that is sort of a purple-ish color. That’s about it. I don’t really have any feelings about wearing purple or not. It’s not a color that I go out of my way looking for in clothing, but if I had a purple item, I have no qualms about wearing it.

2) Do you like the color purple in general? Why/why not? What does the color purple mean to you (i.e., how would you describe purple and its connotations)? How does the color make you feel?

bq. I’m a person who doesn’t really have a favorite color, so this is a question that’s difficult to answer. Purple is a nice color, and it has its’ uses. Purple, to me, has a very traditional meaning. Purple has been associated with royalty since the Roman times. It came from the bodies of the “Trunculus Murex”:http://www.answers.com/Trunculus%20Murex mollusk. I think today purple is seen more as a feminine color, or it’s used to make a statement about being eccentric, which I don’t care for at all. The color purple doesn’t really evoke any emotions for me. Maybe it’s from my college training, but I look at a lot of colors and see the colors that would make up that one color — so when I see purple, I see blue and red, and what kind of proportions of those colors would have been used, and if any other colors might have been added to get that particular shade. Yeah, I’m a geek.

3) Name some purple objects that are surrounding you right now (if any).

bq. Right now the only purple items around me are a purple Pilot G2 retractable gel pen, the trim on a pencil case that I use to keep all my Sharpies in, and probably a purple Sharpie in that case, and a piece of Quartz Amethyst (which is said to protect against excess, or against drunkenness, or even used as a love charm).

4) Have you ever eaten any purple foods or had any purple drinks (or would you)? Why/why not?

bq. From what I can remember, the purple foods that I have ate are eggplant and grapes. Funny enough (at least I think it’s funny, dammit), I call the imitation grape flavor of a lot of candies, drinks and such “purple” because it sure does _not_ taste like grapes.

5) Would you decorate any part of your home with purple? Why/why not?

bq. I’m sure if I found the right split complementary color, or came up with a triad or analogous color scheme with purple in it, I would decorate a room with purple. But if you’re talking about plain purple paint just slapped on the walls, then no.

Yay for expectorants! They help things clear out and help me feel better.

That is all.
