“It’s finally out(Textpattern blog – Version 4)”:http://textpattern.com/weblog/11/textpattern-4-stable-released. Textpattern version 4 came out today, and after a few minutes uncompressing files and shuffling them around, my site is all updated and running smoothly. I don’t think there’s another blogging application that I would leave Textpattern for. It’s packed full of features despite it’s lean size. I highly recommend if for any blog, or any site where you need to manage your content.

Monday morning I got yet another call from Bonney Staffing. I figured it would turn out to be another false hope like the others. Turns out this time was different. They had an assignment available that they felt would be right for me and wanted to know if I was interested. It’s a position at the Portland Press Herald — the local news paper — working in the classifieds department importing photos and proofing ads before they go to print (and, as it turns out, it’s the real estate department). The assignment is for six weeks and the hours are 08:30-16:30, Monday through Friday. I was told the pay rate, and I was sold. They only thing that freaked me out a little was that they needed someone to start the next day — Tuesday. It was a little sooner notice than I would prefer, but everything else sounded good. So I accepted. I am now, for six weeks, a working man.
Tuesday was my first day and everything went great. I’ve had pretty much no training so far because the department I’m in has been so busy, but they’ll show me how to do something briefly, and then give me a stack of ads to work on, but they understand if I bother them with questions. I’ve picked things up really quickly — probably because of my graphic design talent and education, and my knowledge of computers. They’ve been very impressed with how quickly I’ve picked things up — quicker than anyone they’ve trained before, according to one of my managers. They’re so impressed, that one of my managers that I report to is really hoping — and pushing — to get my temporary assignment turned to a permanent position at the paper. And I think that would be awesome.

Abolish the alphabet! Or at least improve it. View “other alphabets here(Omniglot)”:http://www.omniglot.com/ too, but without the witty comments.

…from this past weekend:
* You cannot buy hard liquor in New Hampshire anywhere but state-owned liquor stores. So you can’t buy Rum at your local Hannaford
* It is illegal to pump your own gas in New Jersey
* Most of my graduating high school class is now doing cocaine
* Portsmouth has a “cute” downtown area but with a pretentious snobby area called _Strawberry Hill_. How gay is that?
* Metal nipple rings get very very cold when you go swimming in the Ocean
* An ocean beach in Kittery, ME is the perfect makeout spot for lesbians after dark
I had a very awesome, very informative weekend.

Will your computer be able to take full advantage of “Windows Vista”:http://www.windowsvista.us? Mine won’t. I seem to remember Apple doing something like this with their new quartz extreme that came out a year or two ago. Grr. Why can’t you upgrade laptop graphics cards?
