It’s snowing out today. What the fuck?!

Not only did I have 4 external lights burn out within a few days, and now had my rear breaks lock and then stop working totally almost emptying my bank account, but today I got a flat tire from sitting in my driveway at home. I hope I can get it patched up on the cheap — I don’t have much more money to throw at this car.
Why does my car have to be so retarded?

I forgot to mention to all my readers (ha!) that while my job at the paper in the Real Estate department ended last Thursday, the Composing/Prepress department at the paper picked me up. Apparently their recent temp just stopped showing up, so they were in a bind to get someone, and once they heard that my position on the 5th floor was up, they really wanted me.
The thing about this position, though, are the hours. They wanted me to start on Saturday, but since I already had plans, I told them I could start on Sunday. The weekend hours, for right now anyway, are 18:00–02:00. I’ve never worked this shift before, so I’m sure it’s going to be hell. At least I have Monday off, but I have to work Tuesday–Friday, 10:00–18:00.
They’re also not sure long long they’re going to need me, but I know that this coming week is going to be very busy because the paper has Holiday guides coming out that this department builds.
There’s also a $3/hr. cut in pay along with this move. This is awesome!

Friday morning I had a 9:00 appointment to bring my car to the garage to have the rear brakes looked at because they were grinding so horribly. So, I dropped it off at a little before 9 and went back home to wait for it because my mom had things to do, so we couldn’t wait at the garage for them to do anything with it. Bad mistake. They didn’t take my car in to even be looked at until around 13:00. Then it was about another hour until they called to let me know what was up with the breaks. Turns out the rear left caliper was stuck on so it was grinding down. Since they come in pairs, I’d have to have both rear calipers, breaks and rotors replaced for a grand total of $455.19. Ow! I had them start work on it right away hoping I’d get my car back by the end of the day so I could do something. Close to closing time, 18:00, they called and told me that the emergency valve that’s located under the driver’s seat was blocked, so I had no rear breaks — only front breaks — and that wasn’t safe enough for them to let me take my car home. If they couldn’t get the valve open on Saturday, they’d have to order a new one, and it would take about 3 days to get one from the warehouse. Wonderful. So, I took my mom’s car for the night. Saturday, I got a call around 12:30 to let me know my car was ready for pick up, thankfully.
As for the post title — while driving around with a friend today we heard the Green Day song _Boulevard of Broken Dreams_ and it was censored. The part in the song where it says “Read between the lines/What’s fucked up and everything’s alright” was changed to “Read between the lines/What’s _nuffed_ up and everything’s alright,” or at least that’s what it sounded like.

I have no idea who these people are. I’m kind of embarrassed by that.

Over the past two weeks I’ve learned that things aren’t always as they seem. This week I learned this lesson after being called into my manager’s office only to be told that this was my last week working at the paper. I thought this was a sure-thing job. I’m great at it, know all the software, and we’re just breaking even with the work load while I’m here. But with the massive layoffs and reorganization happening at this place, I suppose they can’t very well justify keeping a temp on pay roll while letting 21 others go.
Here’s to hoping that Bonney Staffing will have another assignment for me as soon as this one ends!
Things have got to start looking up by now, don’t they?

$2,499.99?! Wow. I don’t think I like Star Trek _that_ much. All seasons of all 5 series, all 10 movies, and anything else produced under the _Star Trek_ name. *212 discs!*

Today while I was out running random errands I stopped at Burger King for lunch. It’s been such a long time since I’ve eaten there that I had forgotten how greasy flame broiled meat could be. But I also found out that they put lame self-help/inspirational style messages on all of their food containers. This one was found on the paper bag holding the entire order:

I liked the “sleeping kittens” part, but the rest is just hokey. Same for the large drink cup:
bq. This cup makes a statement about you. It says “Hey, look at me, I’m an ambitious yet responsible person.” You could have gone larger, but you didn’t. You could have gone smaller, but again, you deferred. No, you know exactly what you want in life, nothing more, nothing less. It’s good when you HAVE IT YOUR WAY®.
I guess you just need help feeling better about eating greasy, non-digestible foods.
