The Everything Test

March 8th, 2007 by T-Fresh

There are many different types of tests on the internet today. Personality tests, purity tests, stereotype tests, political tests. But now, there is one test to rule them all.

Traditionally, online tests would ask certain questions about your musical tastes or clothing for a stereotype, your experiences for a purity test, or deep questions for a personality test. We’re turning that upside down – all the questions affect all the results, and we’ve got some innovative results too! Enjoy :-)

You are more logical than emotional, more concerned about self than concerned about others, more atheist than religious, more loner than dependent, more lazy than workaholic, more traditional than rebel, more engineering mind than artistic mind, more cynical than idealist, more leader than follower, and more introverted than extroverted. As for specific personality traits, you are adventurious (100%), intellectual (73%), greedy (73%), romantic (71%).

»Stereotypes
Prep 69%
Punk Rock 60%
White Trash 45%

»Life Experience
Sex 33%
Substances 35%
Travel 9%

»Politics
Your political views would best be described as Socialist, whom you agree with around 67% of the time.

»Socioeconomic
Your attitude toward life best associates you with Middle Class. You make more than 0% of those who have taken this test, and 40% less than the U.S. average.

If your life was a movie, it would be rated PG-13.
By the way, your hottness rank is 38%, hotter than 55% of other test takers.

New Lappies

March 3rd, 2007 by T-Fresh

About 2 weeks ago David and I decided we couldn’t wait any longer and took a trip to New Hampshire to get ourselves a pair of brand new MacBooks.

I was planning on getting one with my tax return and money I received from Christmas and my birthday, but sadly I screwed myself over this year and I actually have to pay the IRS and State of Maine instead, so I was kind of bummed for a while. But as I saved up more money on my own, I got closer to the dream of owning a Mac again. I only had a couple hundred left to go when David in his impatient/impuslive ways decided to put both on a credit card and I’d pay him back. We drove nearly 100 miles—one way—just so we could avoid paying $130 in sales tax. It was well worth it.

We got the middle-class MacBook that comes decked out with a 2.0GHz Intel Core 2 Duo processor, 1GB of RAM and an 80GB hard drive. We also splurged and got wrist rest & keyboard/screen protectors and neoprene cases for them.

I’m so happy to be back on a Mac full time. The PC laptop was just becoming so problematic. It seemed like everything, especially bluetooth and the optical drive, was working sporadically and my former lappy was actually broke—the hinge for the display was cracked and no longer held the display in place at extreme angles, and the screen had many dead pixels and dust under the glass.

The new MacBook is just a dream comparatively. It has a superb 13.3-inch glossy display that looks like a photo, and the keyboard is unique but very usable. WiFi works like you think it should—it picks up and can switch networks without user interaction as long as they’re set up as preferred networks.

I’m so happy now. Thanks David!

El Laberinto del Fauno

March 3rd, 2007 by T-Fresh

In 1944 fascist Spain, a girl, fascinated with fairy-tales, is sent along with her pregnant mother to live with her new stepfather, a ruthless captain of the Spanish army. During the night, she meets a fairy who takes her to an old fawn in the center of the labyrinth. He tells her she’s a princess, but must prove her royalty by surviving three gruesome tasks. If she fails, she will never prove herself to be the the true princess and will never see her real father, the king, again. –IMDb

A few weeks ago David and I went out to see Pan’s Labyrinth (El Laberinto del Fauno) while it was still in theaters. We thought the story line sounded very similar to the Jim Henson film Mirror Mask (which was awesome). We were quite wrong. Pan’s Labyrinth was good in its own right, but it wasn’t what we were expecting. And the gory violence made me very uncomfortable for the entire movie and made it generally unenjoyable.

The actual movie was very well done, and the play between the fairytale world and the real world was pretty seamless, and the faun was one of the best I’ve seen and was a very interesting character.

Because of the brutal violence this is not a movie I would recommend to someone. I’m not disappointed that I saw it, but it’s certainly something I could have waited for the DVD release to watch.
